What’s the difference between uploading an album to your profile and sharing pictures in the posts section? Is the posts section meant to reach more people, or does it serve a different purpose? Or am I just a little slow catching on?

Frequently, people use Post to get people interested in going to their Album page.
Either to see more pictures in the Post's series.....or to see other Album selections.

But....for some people (and here begins my Editorial Comment), they do some posts....and then they see that Top Posters: list on the right side of the page.
It is at that point that a drive begins in them to work their way up to the Number One position.
They'll post anything and everything....max'ing out the Posts Per Hour: and the Posts Per Day until they reach the coveted Number One position. At that point, they find out that there is no prize or adulation. At least I didn't get a prize....
