Messaging is kind of useless and here is why -

Hiya, Pimp - boy I hope you don't get tired of me :-)

On the photos side you have implemented a messaging system - great in concept, but there is a fatal flaw.

When (I/we) navigate away from the message all of the previous messaging disappears!

STEPS TO PROBLEM: This occurs on the photos side, not the forum side)

1. When the messaging Icon (top right of page) indicates messages waiting, click the icon
2. In the new page, in the left pane, choose the new message you wish to address
3. Read and reply to the message, click submit: there will be a 4 - 8 second stall before your own reply shows up in the main text pane... but it eventually arrives.
4. Navigate away from that page.
5. Anytime later, navigate back to the messages center; for example you'd like to pick up on a convsersation.
6 : UNEXPECTED RESULT = ERROR: all previous content in the conversation his gone, only my last reply reamins in the main text window

EXPECTED RESULT: all of the conversation should STILL be in the main content window.

When you initially implemented the messaging this was not the case. Something has changed, but I can't tell you when. I could do some more research and provide a window if that will help, just let me know.

UPDATE - I have figured out the specifics of the glitch and I am composing a problem report, I will update this post again later today with my findings...but right now I have "real life" to get to... LOL

Hey PIMP - I have the formula down for how this doesn't work, and a technique for FORCING the existing conversation to load into the message pane. I have made a 2:36 screen capture video to demonstrate. I also narrate in English as I go, but to be sure:

Whenever I open an existing conversation, only the last message appears, no matter who sent it, me or the other party. Even after I type and send a reply nothing is added to the conversation pane, which it should show immediately, and as a sign that the system is connected.

The only repeatable steps to success I have found are:
I have to:
1. Send a new message (which sucks if I can't read the previous conversation so I am intelligent in what I write!)
2. Shrink the browser window enough to cause the scroll slider to appear on the right.
3. Then if I scroll UP the browser prompts the load of the previous entries into the conversation pane.

My video steps through 2 or 3 fail attempts to demonstrate where intuitive behavior is absent and finally the event of my success at the end.

Windows 11 pro / Chrome v. 113.0.5672.93

Nope. Still the same. I have attached screen to ensure my steps in testing. File names describe each step.

Nope not fixed...but the alert bell counter populates one step late, and also the messages counter doesn't disappear when I go to messages and open a message to read. It remains until I navigate away from messages. Those are the only site changes I see at this time. Reported problem remains in it last reported state/ no change.
