Your old images do count, we do not remove them but they are above the limit, for example your account now is at 9.34GB.

How do I find out how much account space I am currently using?

When you enter your account, on albums tab there is (i) information icon, hover it with your mouse and you will see:

I already have well over 10Gb storage so what happens now under the "Free Plan"

After this period, to continue uploading new content under the new limits, you can choose the plan that fits your needs best. If you upgrade, you'll enjoy all the perks of a premium account while keeping everything you already have.
