Admin, you can:

1. Upload a picture through a browser
2. Immediately click on the picture
3. Processing ?!

I think this is the problem.

No, the "processing" itself means, the server is now PROCESSING the image upload, this is OK, it just takes few seconds usually to make sure its O.K.

the problem becomes when server is overloaded with thousands of uploads in same second, it creates stress on the servers and it can take a while for the "processing" to finish.

You should not share images while its "processing" it means its not yet uploaded. that`s why it might of not work, does it happen to you even NOW? long processing?

since now all works for me in mili seconds...

This is the issue i want to investigate, where did you take the code for this preview image? with _l.lpg in the end?

since what happen is the image itself is smaller then our "Large" size, that`s why "Large" thumb was not even created, and essentially the site should not have return this code to you, did you make it manually or how did you get it? if this is a bug we need to fix it.

My feedback is that I just uploaded 20+ pics with no problems

It's not really fun looking at "PROCESSING" the whole morning (now for several hours), and yes, I "refreshed" the site hundreds of times, minimum wait for uploading is 12 minutes.
