Same problem here, wonder if it has to do with daily traffic on those images. Though I posted several pics to the same site/page and only some are affected.

Strangely not the ~5mb .gif, only large 1500+x3000+pixel 1mb screencaps.

Hey Guys, we for now replaced all "BIG" images with "thumbs" , its only temp solution to ease on the servers until our new hardware arrives, we ordered tons of new servers, but due to snow in UK deliverys are late, so its our only solution to keep P&H Blazing fast for now.

When You click through the thumb though, it will show the "BIG" image on our pages, just not hotlinking it on third party.

Unfortunately, even small images are also now recognized as a preview. What should be the size of the image is subjected to transformation?

That's bogus. If it isn't one thing it's another with this site. I know it's free and I appreciate it, but there's always something going on here and always some kind of excuse. My images are all small and when I click on them the image that comes up is small; despite what pimp says; and shown as original size. This is annoying. I'm here specifically because many other sites only use thumbnails. I DON'T WANT THUMBNAILS!!! Now I can't post anything on my blog because of what's going on here,,,AGAIN!!!

...I know it's free and I appreciate it....

It's "free" because they generate a crapload from advertising revenue as folk view our pics. I'm switching hosts and they will get the money from now on. This re-sizing is crap and has destroyed most of by posts. Thanks for nothing!

Where can I find another pic host that doesn't use thumbnails?

i also was wondering what has happened to all my images. i'm very disappointed even though it's just meant to be a temporary solution.

my complete blog is messed up and visitors can't recognize any content anymore due to the tiny image dimensions... according to my stats, i lost 40% of my clicks during the 1,5 days due to this fact!

@pimp: can you estimate when the new hardware will arrive / you're gonna switch the image dimensions back to their original dimensions of 500px for medium? please give me an update asap, it's kind of urgent as my blog layout looks completely broken.

how do you judge what files are 'big'? dimensions or file size? what are your exact limits at the moment? i use 'save for web' (photoshop) and most of my images are around 120kb max but the majority of them got thumbnailed nonetheless.

if you can't help me, i'm going to reupload all my stuff at imagesocket.com - they offer full size hotlinks only as long as the file sizes aren't too big. if a certain file size is exceeded, you don't get that option, what's a way better solution in my eyes.

@sexy-sappho-lover: try imagesocket.com - if your files aren't too big, you can hotlink them. xxx is allowed too...

Ah, so thats why. My posts look totally sh*t cos of this. At least it ain't permanent. Good thing I backup my images in a separate site.

I've been searching for sites that don't use thumbnails. I've looked at ImageHyper too, and it looks to contain suspicious banners/ads. Any image hosting website that that pays its uploaders are gonna look to shady ppl to help pay server costs.

Guys i already Replied.

Our servers are OVERLOADED, we did this to prevent from the site to stop moving totally.

Our hardware is ordered already but UK is SNOWY unless someone of you has a private jet, nothing much we can do, we are waiting for our hardware to be delivered, our hosting company said it will take 2 Weeks~ i`m bugging them daily, but that's as much as i can do.

I`m sorry for the guys with Previews/blogs that has issues cause of this, but its a "temp" solution until the HW is back in place.

Sure, it's snowy in the UK, but that only begs the question: Why did you wait for the issue to become critical to order add'l hardware? It is easy to track server load over time and you must have seen this coming months ago. Heck, we've known on the outside there were problems two weeks ago when the host became so slow. Nope, I'll take my business to hosts with greater concern for their members.

Are have to agree with you there George! but i think im still going to stick with Pimpandhost, wont be uploading much over Xmas so by the time i re-start the problem will hopefully be resolved! :)

Reducing the load is nice. But it is not clear what turned into a preview of the image 400 * 200 which weighs 50 kb? It is not affected by the image 800 * 600 and higher resolutions.

Well, I know how difficult it is to successfully install new hardware--then put in new updates as well. And I do understand what you guys (Pimp) are going through, but I'm in the same boat as all these guys replying here. However, I am willing to wait a while and give you fellows a chance to redeem yourself--especially since it would be very difficult for me to change my source for imaging. So (words of encouragement)...please proceed with the "FIX" and I do hope the results will come sooner rather than later.....SS!

Thumbs will revert to original or medium automatically or need manual edit?

SSmaster

What is amazing to me is that some of my previews are fine and they continue to be so. Others only show as thumbnails, and sizing has nothing to do with it because the larger ones continue to display just fine. Some of both larger and smaller are displayed as thumbnails and the same with those that appear in the original image size and not affected. At least some are ok.....SSmaster.

Yang

I've noticed that the server name in use affects the size of the display, although some that I've manually changed to a different size automagically change back to the thumbnail.

Hi Pimp, the problem with the size of the photos still continues,
when you think you may have a definitive solution?

Do we have an estimate time of when the these "small pictures" problem be solved? It has been nearly 2 weeks now and already killed my business.

I really believe what you say, no offense, but this is really hurting my business so in case you won't be able to fix this in this coming week or so, please tell.

Thank You

Hello Pimp, it would be nice to hear that progress is being made on this problem, and any kind of message would help, even if no progress has been made. I've already started uploading my pics somewhere else because you haven't convinced me that you will be successful...SSmaster...good luck with your progress...may be too late for me!

trust me we are not ignoring it, i`m the first person to fix this asap, but some stuff are not up to us, waiting on hardware is a nightmare, and then it takes time to setup the servers, move tons of data there, but we will get there soon, i promise.

wouldn't it be faster if you take off those inactive members who haven't uploaded an image in 60-90 days? it saves you a lot of time and money

we clean dead images always, and those members doesnt effect server load, but now we moved already lots of images to CDN Solutions so please tell me if you still keep getting errors? or problems?

This isn't so much of a scaling issue as it is with Display. The thumbnails look fine, but when I click on them to see the actual size images, they don't load in their entirety and/or they have colored lines through them.
