Unread messages

I have had an indicator showing that I have 1 unread message for the last few months. even though I don't. Today, it flipped to 2 unread messages (see attached), even though I have none. How can I reset the unread message counter if all my messages are already read?

Hello! Once again I have an indicator showing that I have 1 unread message, even though when I check both 'Primary' and 'Requests' I do not. Can you reset my unread counter? Thanks in advance.

Looks like the problem has gone away for now. I'll report back if it returns, thanks.
